Male Weight Loss – Calorie Requirements

It may sound like a bunch of crap to you, but weight loss is really all about eating less than the male body needs. Period. You want fast results in everything, right? Me too. The fact is that when you really take a look at all of the stuff you eat in just one day, you'll realize just how many calories you eat.

Within every  man's lifetsyle (sedentary, moderately active and active), there are only so many calories your body needs. Male weight loss is simply about eating less than you need. It isn't magical. I have proved it again to myself last week.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee in September 2009 and I am not as active as I once was. I used to run 4 miles a day and lift weights every day, 5 times a week. After the surgery, the running is out of the question for now. So, I started gaining weight.

I decided two weeks ago to start listing everything I ate in one day. The next day, I decided to include calorie numbers next to each item of food I ate. Then I compared how many calories I only really needed per day. It turns out that my weight gain is not only because I was less active. It was because I was eating too many calories. I only need 2,000 calories per day. I was eating about 2,600.

Forget about nutritional needs for now. Just count your calories. Within one week of eating within my limit, I had already dropped 2 pounds. Not much you say, but give it 8 weeks, that is 16 pounds. After that I only need to drop another 9 pounds and I am back where I was. Male weight loss is no mystery. You can do it too.
